In a review meeting held at Hotel Ridhika Inn in Suryapet, intellectuals and community leaders gathered to discuss the recent Supreme Court verdict on SC classification. The meeting, spearheaded by national and state leaders of the Mala community, called for a united social movement and legal challenge to oppose the classification, urging widespread participation from all segments of society.
Call to build social movements
G Chennaiah, National President of Mala Mahanadu and Chairman of the Mala Praja Sangha JAC, emphasized the need for district-wide review meetings across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to raise awareness about the Supreme Court’s decision on SC classification. “We must ensure that every member of the Mala community, from students to politicians, is aware of the implications of this verdict. It is imperative that we come together and fight against this classification,” he urged.

Eminent cardiologist Dr. MF Gopinath and JAC Vice Chairman Gopoji Ramesh Babu echoed the call to build social movements by also focusing on legal avenues. “Our battle is not just social but also legal. We need to challenge this verdict in the courts while simultaneously mobilizing our community to stand united against this unjust classification,” Dr. Gopinath said.

Mala Mahanadu State President Manne Sridhar Rao called for active participation from Mala intellectuals, IAS and IPS officers, and elected representatives including MLAs, MPs, MLCs, and Ministers. “Political parties seeking to divide the SCs must be opposed. It is crucial that leaders from all walks of life respond to this challenge and stand with the Mala community in this struggle,” Rao said.

Activists from various Mala organizations, including Katta Saidulu, Prakash, Krishna, Katla Murali, and Samata Sanika Dal Maha Suman, also attended, reflecting the broad-based support for the movement.
The leaders concluded the meeting by calling for continued efforts to unite the community and resist any attempts to fragment the SC reservations, reinforcing the importance of solidarity and collective action in their ongoing struggle.
